My paintings center on how color can conjure light and establish space, expanding or receding through placement. I am captivated by color — the possibilities seem endless until the work settles and feels balanced.
There is an honesty in confronting the canvas and applying pigment. As I build the painting through layering, scraping and rebuilding the surface, a history emerges. Painting sparks vague recollections as I discover the familiar yet indiscernible. Through my work, via the relationship of color, I want to invite an intimate dialogue, a contemplation.
